Issues

    Crime Prevention, Public Safety

We must ensure that our police and fire departments are equipped with the latest technology and most advanced equipment to do
their jobs and officers must be more visible in our neighborhoods. We should establish ways in which Houston’s police can
effectively communicate and work collaboratively with county and other governmental entities to provide a more effective means of
fighting crime and making our city a safer place to live.  And let’s get tough on gangs!

    Infrastructure

Our infrastructure is old and crumbling and we must develop an infrastructure master plan with a comprehensive strategy for
reinvestment in better, faster street repairs, water lines, sewers and flood prevention.  Our poorly maintained streets, sewers and
drainage systems have greatly affected all of us with increased traffic congestion, flooding, and automobile damage.

    Quality of Life

Broaden the efforts that Mayor White began with clean air initiatives and improved traffic mobility.  Expand beautification efforts with
more green spaces, parks and tree planting.  Improve and expand our recycling program city wide.

    Business Development and Job Growth

Houston has always been recognized as a city with an excellent economy and plenty of jobs.  We need to ensure that this continues
by expanding our economy with business incentives that will help maintain current businesses while attracting new ones.  This will
increase the city’s tax base while bringing new jobs to Houston.  We must invest in a well-trained work force that will provide for the
skills needed for Houston’s future economic well-being.
